Personal Vehicles

BAF does NOT convert vehicles for individuals at this time.

As a small volume manufacturer, we are more like a automotive manufacturer rather than a dealership who performs after-market conversions. This means we are not set up as a dealership - no service department, no mechanism for processing individuals. Instead we rely on our relationships with dealerships to service the growing demand for personal-use vehicles. Our growing network of dealerships can sell you a new, converted CNG vehicle and they can often ship it to you. These vehicles are ordered with a “BAF CNG Option” and will be converted by us but serviced by the dealership. Please check with them for costs.

Also, we can only convert the vehicles for which we have CARB and/or EPA certification as listed in our Products section. It takes experience, time and resources to ensure our vehicles meet or exceed the requirements handed down my these two entities so be wary of companies selling “kits” that are not certified or approved by CARB and/or EPA. And remember, according to the EPA, installing non-certified systems on your vehicle is “tampering with a federally approved emission control system,” a federal violation punishable by law. Already 16 states have adopted or have announced they will adopt CARB guidelines.

Finally, a note about why we only convert “new” and current model year vehicles. We only convert new vehicles due to warranty requirements and the importance of knowing that the vehicle is exactly the same as when it left the manufacturer. The reason we only convert current model year vehicles relates to our CARB & EPA approvals  and the fact that we must reapply every year to ensure our system operates with the latest vehicle and on-board computer software updates.
